KUCHING: Sarawak’s Muhd Lutfir Rahman struck gold in the Boys 3m Springboard Male (A) event at the 61st MILO/PRAM MIAG Diving Championships 2026.
Competing at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre, the 17-year-old delivered a consistent performance across all 10 dives to finish with a winning total of 446.70 points.
Lutfir finished with a winning total of 446.70 points, reflecting both technical precision and composure under pressure, particularly in the later stages of the competition.
He pulled away from his closest challengers with strong executions in his final set of dives, including high-difficulty inward and reverse somersault combinations that earned him crucial marks from the judges.
Selangor’s Muhd Haziq Muizzudin put up a solid challenge but had to settle for silver with 409.90 points, while Pahang’s Muhd Afif Rayyan completed the podium in third place with 403.55 points.
“I am trying to work on my dives. Before I went up, I tried to calm myself down, stretch and sit,” said Lutfir, who hails from Bandar Baru Semariang, in an interview with Sarawak Tribune today (May 9).
“This is also preparation for me ahead of the Malaysia Games (SUKMA),” he added.
At the 2024 SUKMA, Lutfir clinched gold alongside Nurul Farisya Alia Affendi in the mixed synchronised 10-metre platform event. He also earned silver in the men’s 1-metre springboard.
