KUCHING: A 24-year-old man was killed in an accident along Jalan Pelabuhan here on Monday night.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident occurred at about 9.30 pm, involving a cement mixer lorry and a motorcycle.
“Initial investigations found that the lorry driver, who was travelling from Jalan Setia Raja towards Demak Laut, failed to stop at the traffic light.
“This resulted in a collision with a motorcycle ridden by a local man who was moving from Jalan Merican Salleh when the traffic light was green,” he said in a statement.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant from Sarawak General Hospital.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
