MA loses RM1,000 to armed robber

KUCHING: A medical assistant working at Sarawak General Hospital was robbed of RM1,000 by an armed robber yesterday.

The 34-year-old victim from Kampung Siol Kandis near here had earlier on withdrawn money from a bank at Jalan Kulas, Satok here at about 12.45 pm.

While he was walking to his car parked in front of a bank a man putting on a full face helmet accosted him. The man then produced a knife and pointed it at his stomach before he ordered the victim to hand over the money he has withdrawn from the bank.

Fearing for his safety, the victim gave the money to the armed robber who immediately left the scene.

The robbery victim later went to lodge a police report.

Meanwhile, police arrested a 28-year-old man for threatening his parents with a knife. The man was detained at 2am for questioning.

At about 11.30pm last Sunday, the suspect’s father, a security guard aged 58 lodged a police report.

In his report he claimed that his son had gone amok in their house at Kampung Tabuan Melayu near here, last Sunday.

The father added that his son then grabbed a chopper and used it to threaten his mother and him over some issues with a relative.

The father said that he lodged a police report fearing for their safety and also because he wanted police to help him.
