KUCHING: Discussions on healthcare matters under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) are still at the committee stage and have yet to be brought to higher-level deliberations.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said MA63-related healthcare issues were still being addressed through existing committees involving Sabah, Sarawak and the federal government, particularly on policy and implementation matters.

She said the process involved coordination among the three parties to determine what information and proposals needed to be formally presented before decisions could be made.

“This is the best approach to address the matter,” she said.

She told the media this when asked about updates related to healthcare under MA63 after officiating the World Cancer Day Darul Hana Bridge Light Up event at the Kuching Waterfront here on Saturday night (Jan 31).

Hanifah added that there were also proposals related to MA63 raised by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, but said she was not yet familiar with the details as they had yet to be formally presented.

“If there are any developments or feedback, either the minister or I will provide updates accordingly,” she said.
