KUCHING: The Maal Hijrah 1447H 2025 celebration, organised by the Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS), is set to offer a vibrant and meaningful week-long festival filled with spiritual, recreational and family-friendly programmes from June 20 to June 29.
The celebration at Masjid Jamek Negeri Sarawak (also known as Sarawak State Mosque) features a variety of engaging activities ranging from religious and cultural events to sports and lifestyle exhibitions.
Among the highlights are the Maal Hijrah Prime Ministerial Lecture, along with competitions in badminton, pickleball, bowling, Berzanji and Marhaban, and Nasyid.
The festival will also host Foodies Street and Flea Market Exhibition, Health and Uniformed Body Exhibitions, as well as interactive info kiosks, offering activities that cater to visitors of all ages. These exhibitions will run from June 27 to June 29.
Visitors also stand a chance to win attractive prizes through lucky draws held throughout the week, with grand prizes including Umrah packages and motorcycles.
Speaking to the media at the flag hoisting ceremony of the Maal Hijrah Festival held at the main porch of the Sarawak State Mosque yesterday (Friday), LAKMNS chief executive officer Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai said the festival would culminate with an official closing ceremony on June 29.
The ceremony is scheduled to be officiated by Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Sri Fadillah Yusof.
