SRI AMAN: Following the recent announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the Workers’ Day gathering on May 1, the Sarawak Teachers’ Union (STU) is encouraging all teachers to join the union to enjoy the benefits of the newly introduced Kad Pekerja MADANI (MADANI Worker Card).

The MADANI Worker Card, now available to all union members in Malaysia, offers discounts of up to 30 per cent on essential goods and services.

These benefits are made possible through partnerships with more than 100 companies nationwide.

In response, STU is inviting all teachers across Sarawak to register as union members, enabling them to take full advantage of the MADANI Worker Card, along with exclusive discounts from STU’s merchant partners across the state.

“I have always emphasised that teachers should be part of a union, especially STU, because unions have long fought for the welfare of the teaching profession.

“Becoming a member is a gesture of appreciation for the efforts of union leaders,” said STU President, Kullin Dyajang.

STU also welcomed new teachers to join the union, highlighting the importance of nurturing future leaders to continue advocating for the welfare of educators.

“Without new members, the voice of the union may one day fall silent,” he said.

The call was made during the 22nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the STU Sri Aman Division, which was officiated on Monday.

During the meeting, Eileen Kee Hui Ling was elected as the Division Chairperson for the 2025-2028 term, while Lee Nyuk Moi was reappointed as the Division Secretary.
