KUCHING: Sarawakian economist Datuk Dr Madeline Berma has been appointed as a member of the Sarawak Economic Action Council (SEAC).
The appointment, effective Jan 24, 2025, was made by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“As the implementation of Phase 1 of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 approaches its end, we are advancing into reviewing its achievements and formulating strategic directions for the continued realisation of Sarawak’s development aspirations under the 13th Malaysia Plan, or Phase 2 of PCDS 2030.
“To support this, I formed the Sarawak Economic Action Council (SEAC) on 6th May, 2020, to deliberate, discuss, decide, and endorse the planning and recommendations under PCDS 2030.
“I am pleased to appoint YBhg. Prof. Madya Dato’ as a member of the Sarawak Economic Action Council, effective from the date of this letter,” reads the appointment letter, which was shared by Madeline in a Facebook post.
Madeline also stated in her post that the appointment is a service to the country.
“Praying that I will be able to contribute as much as possible to ‘Ibu Pertiwiku’,” she wrote.
