MALACCA: Mahkota Medical Centre has become the first hospital in Malaysia, and possibly Southeast Asia, to be accredited with the Joint Commission International (JCI) Clinical Care Programme Certification (CCTC).

Group chief executive officer of HMI Medical, Chin Wei Jia, said the certification recognises Mahkota’s integrated approach to patient treatment through its certified clinical care pathway programme.

“CCTC means we do not just look at each part of the treatment individually, but link everything together.

“For example, in oncology, a nurse navigator supports patients throughout their entire programme, addressing not only medical needs but also side effects such as hair loss, appetite issues and emotional concerns,” she said in a press conference during the launch of the hinotori robotic-assisted surgical system here on Tuesday (Sept 23).

She said the accreditation highlighted Mahkota’s commitment to providing holistic care, reflecting its tagline ‘hands that treat, hearts that heal’.

“It is not only about the treatment itself, but the whole journey. We want to support every patient through that process,” she said.

Chin said Mahkota also continues to invest in digitalisation to improve service quality and patient care.

“For instance, we launched our next-generation smart board last year, the first in Malaysia.

“It is not just an electronic medical record system, but a customised platform where doctors’ orders are immediately visible to nurses through handheld devices,” she explained.

Chin added that Mahkota’s focus remains on expanding its facilities, building a team of experienced specialists and continuously enhancing patient experience through innovation and technology.
