KUCHING: The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) has urged the government to review the maintenance of its assets and facilities from time to time.
Cuepacs deputy president II, Zainal Ismail, said for example, in an accident in Perak involving an ambulance, the driver and patient died in the crash.
“This shows that maintenance of government assets is not taken seriously. We urge the government to pay heed to its assets, especially those in the enforcement
agencies.

“We also urge the government to pay attention to staff quarters in the rural areas and assets and
facilities in Malaysian prisons which are dilapidated,” he said during the Sarawak Police-Civilian Staff Assembly at Pustaka.
Apart from that, Zainal also urged the government to review the regional and housing allowances for civil servants.
“The regional and housing allowances need to be taken seriously as the cost of living is
increasing.
“There are many civil servants who are stressed now because their welfare is being neglected, especially based on their ‘rate of job’ or salary.
