KUCHING: Team spirit, resilience and unity among women in the civil service took centre stage at the Amazing Race Sarawak Malaysian Government Servants’ Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) Sarawak Women 2025 held here on Saturday.
The annual interactive race brought together more than 250 female government officers from various agencies, combining physical challenges, mental puzzles, and teamwork-based tasks that tested their creativity and problem-solving skills.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, said that such programmes play an important role in fostering camaraderie while building confidence and innovative thinking among women in the public sector.
“This event not only encourages teamwork but also promotes positive values and creative problem-solving among participants,” she said when met after officiating at the launch of the event here today.
Sharifah Hasidah added that MAKSAK continues to serve as a valuable platform for empowering women through recreational and welfare-based initiatives.
“I hope to see the event continue annually with greater participation from across the state. With strong leadership, MAKSAK will remain active and continue organising impactful programmes for women and civil servants in Sarawak,” she said.
This year’s race kicked off at the car park area of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex and concluded at Damai Lagoon Resort, Santubong.
A total of 60 vehicles were flagged off at the DUN compound, marking the start of the race.
Along the way, participants were required to complete various team-based challenges and quizzes to collect clues leading them to the next checkpoint before reaching the finish line.
Attractive prizes awaited winners, with the champion taking home RM2,000, first runner-up RM1,800, and second runner-up RM1,600.
Cash prizes were also awarded to those placing fourth to twentieth, while the ‘Goddess Raider’ special award recognised three outstanding participants with RM300, RM200 and RM100 respectively.
The event received strong support from 16 main sponsors, contributing to the smooth running and success of this year’s programme.
