SARIKEI: Sarawak Malaysian Government Servants’ Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) Wanita Sarawak expanded its community outreach and welfare initiatives during the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) 2026 Programme at Sarikei Kitchen here on Friday (Aug 7).
Organised alongside MAKSAK Wanita Sarikei Division, the event featured various educational, social and welfare activities aimed at supporting the local community.
MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak’s chairperson, Datuk Baduyah Bujang officiated the handover of contributions under the MAKSAK Cares initiative.
Through the ‘Sumbangan Ikhlas Sempena Sarawakku Sayang’ initiative, 75 pupils from Tadika Perpaduan Sarikei received gift bags valued at RM50 each, with 20 pupils present to accept the items symbolically.
Eight accompanying teachers from the kindergarten were also presented with tokens of appreciation for their support in facilitating the programme.
Furthering its community assistance, MAKSAK Cares handed over essential non-medical equipment to Hospital Sarikei to help improve facilities and service delivery for local patients.
To ensure continuous local support, Baduyah presented the MAKSAK Wanita Annual Grant of RM5,000 to the MAKSAK Wanita Sarikei Division for future divisional welfare activities.
The organisers extended their appreciation to Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii for his financial backing toward these initiatives.
During her visit, Baduyah also observed a traditional Sarikei culinary demonstration and toured local vendor booths set up around the SKS venue.
The activities were aimed at strengthening MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak’s engagement with local communities through welfare and community-based initiatives.
