KUCHING: The highly anticipated Malam Mantar Gawai Dayak 2025 is set to unite the Dayak community for a night of cultural celebration and togetherness on May 24 at Hotel Kingwood, Sibu.

According to Chairman Angelyn Uchi Maseng, the event themed ‘Beserakup Kitai Mansang, Begempung Kitai Senang Segulai Sejalai’ has received an overwhelming response, with all 143 tables sold out.

“We are thrilled to bring the Dayak community together for this momentous celebration, which reflects our commitment to preserving cultural heritage and fostering unity among various Dayak groups,” she said in a press statement yesterday.

Organised by the Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU), Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS), Orang Ulu National Association (OUNA) and Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA), the event promises an evening of cultural immersion and festive cheer.

“Adding prestige to the occasion will be Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department and Kakus assemblyman, Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai, who will attend as Guest of Honour, underscoring the importance of preserving and promoting Dayak culture.

“Guests can look forward to an entertaining evening featuring performances by renowned artistes, Marina Jara, Dunstant Piyet and Borneo Beat.

“A highlight of the night will be the Pekit Kumang Gawai Dayak 2025 competition, showcasing the beauty, grace and cultural knowledge of young Dayak women,” she said.

The event will provide a vibrant platform to celebrate Gawai Dayak in a traditional and festive atmosphere, strengthening the bonds of community and cultural pride.
