KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines has been named Best Airline Staff in Asia at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, while its cabin crew climbed five places to third in the World’s Best Airline Cabin Crew category.

The national carrier also continued its rise in the overall rankings, moving six places to 21st in the World’s Best Airline category and retaining a place among Asia’s top 10 airlines.

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) president and group chief executive officer Captain Nasaruddin A Bakar said the recognition reflected the contribution of staff across the airline’s operations.

“This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our people across the airport, onboard and behind the scenes, who come together every day to deliver Malaysian Hospitality throughout the customer journey.

“Reaching this milestone after years of consistently climbing the global rankings is a significant achievement for our national carrier and a direct reward for our team’s relentless effort,” he said in a statement today.

Malaysia Airlines also advanced in several other categories, climbing four places to second in World’s Best Airport Services and making its debut at 18th in World’s Best Business Class Airlines.

Its economy class ranking improved four places to 12th, while it moved up one spot to 11th in the World’s Cleanest Airline category.

The airline placed 10th among the Best Airlines in Asia.

MAG said the improvement comes alongside continued investment in its workforce, products, fleet, network and customer experience.

Fleet renewal remains a central part of that strategy, with 29 new aircraft received to date and plans to grow the fleet to 117 modern aircraft by 2035 to support network expansion and additional capacity.

Operational performance has also remained ahead of target, with year-to-date on-time performance averaging 91.38 per cent.

The improvements form part of MAG’s Business Plan 3.0, which targets placing Malaysia Airlines among the world’s top 10 airlines by 2030.

Malaysia Airlines’ oneworld alliance was also named World’s Best Airline Alliance at this year’s awards.
