KUCHING: Malaysia is strengthening its presence in the Eastern European tourism market through deeper collaboration with Nowa ITAKA, Poland’s largest travel platform.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said ITAKA’s charter flights to Langkawi from Poland had previously drawn excellent response, with passengers praising Malaysia’s hospitality, food and natural attractions.
He said the flights recorded a success rate of 97 per cent.
“With over 1,000 agents and 200 self-owned outlets, ITAKA provides a powerful channel to bring more visitors to our country,” he said in a statement following the meeting with ITAKA representatives in Warsaw recently.
According to Tiong, ITAKA plans to launch new charter flights to Langkawi from Czechia and Hungary next year and expand itineraries to Kuala Lumpur through partnerships with Emirates and Qatar Airways.
To further broaden Malaysia’s offerings, he proposed adding destinations such as Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and Semporna, while also promoting Sarawak’s museums and UNESCO World Heritage sites, including Niah Caves and Mulu Caves.
“I have also suggested that ITAKA work with LOT Polish Airlines and Tourism Malaysia to develop scheduled flights, create attractive customised travel products, and capitalise on Visit Malaysia Year 2026 to expand into wider markets,” Tiong added.
