KUCHING: The Malaysia-China Friendship Park will transform into a hub of celebration as the Mooncake Festival 2025 brings families and communities together every evening from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm between October 2 and 12.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor, Datuk Wee Hong Seng, said that the celebration is one of the most meaningful in the culture, as it brings family and friends together to share mooncakes and enjoy the beauty of the full moon.

“It is also about strengthening our community spirit and passing on traditions to the younger generation.

“So this year’s programme will feature live performances by Harmonix Liveband, DJ sets, and busking shows highlighting young local talents.

“And on October 6, the Mooncake Festival Day itself, we will feature a special Chinese instrumental performance by Y.Q Music Studio, followed by Harmonix Liveband,” he said this during the festival press conference at MBKS here today.

Wee added that on the same evening, lanterns and mooncakes will also be distributed to children so that the young ones can truly feel the joy of the Mid-Autumn spirit.

“In addition to performances, visitors will enjoy a vibrant festival atmosphere with lantern riddles, photo spots, family games, and of course, a wide range of food stalls,” he added.

The annual festival, also known as Mid-Autumn Festival, jointly organised by Isekai and MBKS, promises an experience where tradition meets creativity, offering people of all ages the chance to immerse themselves in the celebration.

“To the people of Kuching, I warmly invite you to join us at the Friendship Park, bring your loved ones, and be part of this joyful celebration,” he said.
