KUALA LUMPUR: Kuching City FC carved out a comfortable lead after winning 3-1 against DPMM in their first leg Malaysia Cup quarterfinal match at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Brunei on Saturday night.

The visitors managed to score first in the 39th minute through Jerome Mpacko Etame to secure a one-goal lead in the first half but squandered the lead when defender James Okwuosa deflected Miguel Oliveira’s pass to score an own goal in the 50th minute.

Kuching City FC then had a stroke of luck when DPMM goalkeeper Muhammad Haimie Abdullah Nyaring punched a corner kick by Petrus Shitembi into his own goal in the 64th minute, while Kuching FC winger Muhammad Ramadhan Saifullah Usman secured victory for his team with a goal in the 83rd minute to end the match 3-1.

Both teams will play each other in the second leg match at Sarawak State Stadium on Feb 14. – BERNAMA
