KUALA LUMPUR: Belief is running high in the Kuching City FC camp as skipper James Okwuosa declared that no side is invincible over 90 minutes ahead of the Malaysia Cup final against favourites Johor Darul Ta’zim.

The experienced defender struck a confident tone as Kuching City prepare for the biggest match in their history, insisting that determination and focus can bridge any gap on the pitch.

“For us, the most important thing is to win. When you win, you create history,” said Okwuosa in a press conference at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium today (May 22).

He added that the team are not approaching the final as spectators, but as competitors ready to challenge the established order in Malaysian football.

“We dont want to (just) come. We want to come and compete. We want to show the difference,” he said.

Okwuosa stressed that the club’s remarkable rise should serve as inspiration to others, highlighting that success is possible with belief and hard work.

“We want people to believe that anybody can achieve anything in life. With Kuching, Kuching has proven this for Malaysians,” he said.

The skipper also pointed out the unpredictable nature of football, emphasising that reputation counts for little once the whistle blows.

“Football is a running game. As long as it’s 90 minutes, anybody can be defeated,” he said.

Kuching City will be aiming to translate that belief into performance when they take on the giants of Malaysian football in Saturday’s final.
