KUCHING: Malaysia’s junior shuttlers wrapped up a strong campaign at the Slovak Open with a haul of two gold, three silver and three bronze medals in Junacka, Slovakia from May 6 to 9.
The all-Malaysian men’s doubles final saw Damien Ling-Irfan M. Shazmir clinch gold after defeating compatriots Isyraf Hafizin Ibrahim-Ahmad Redzuan Ahmad 21-5, 21-19.

Malaysia’s second gold came through Carine Tee, her first senior title win, in the women’s singles after she overcame Bulgaria’s Gergana Pavlova 23-21, 21-9 in the final.
In the women’s doubles, Tan Xin Yu-Teh Si Yan settled for silver after falling to Taiwan’s Hsin Tung Chen-Yu Hsi Chen in a hard-fought final, 15-21, 19-21, 25-27.
Another silver arrived in the mixed doubles through Ahmad Redzuan Ahmad-Teh Si Yan, who went down to Taiwan’s Tzu Yuan Huang-Chia Yi Kung despite stretching the match into three games, 23-21, 12-21, 18-21.
Malaysia also secured three bronze medals through Khairul Azlan Khashah-Yusuf M. Iqbal in the men’s doubles, Ayu Fu Sheng in the men’s singles, and Damien Ling-Teh Xin Ying in the mixed doubles.
