KUCHING: National men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik marched into the semi-finals after overcoming China’s Hu Ke Yuan-Lin Xiang Yi at the Malaysia Masters in Unifi Arena, Kuala Lumpur today.
The Malaysians took the quarter-final clash 21-15 before surging ahead 21-16 in the second set,
Aaron and Wooi Yik were initially met with slight resistance from the Chinese pair, who attempted to disrupt the Malaysians through fast exchanges and aggressive net play.
However, the world-class Malaysian duo remained composed throughout the encounter, shutting down the challenge imposed with disciplined defence and sharper attacking execution.
Relying on their experience and composure on the big stage, Aaron and Wooi Yik gradually pulled away to take firm control of the match against the world No.45 pair.
Awaiting them next is an all-Malaysian semi-final showdown against Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, who earlier defeated Japan’s Hiroki Nishi-Kakeru Kumagai to book their place in the last four.
