KUCHING: Konami Digital Entertainment Co. Ltd (KONAMI) and the Malaysian Football League (MFL) have announced a landmark licensing partnership that will see Malaysia’s premier domestic football league integrated into eFootball.

In a statement, KONAMI said the collaboration introduces Malaysian clubs into the global football gaming ecosystem, allowing fans to experience their favourite local teams beyond the stadium and onto the virtual pitch.

Implemented alongside the eFootball version 5.4 update, the initiative enables users to manage local clubs with authentic kits, updated player rosters and the franchise’s high-fidelity gameplay.

For the first time, all 13 participating teams will be featured in-game, including Johor Darul Ta’zim, Selangor FC, Terengganu FC, Sabah FC, Kuala Lumpur City FC, Negeri Sembilan FC, PDRM FC, Kuching City FC, Kelantan The Real Warriors FC, Penang FC, Imigresen FC, Melaka FC and DPMM FC (Brunei Darussalam).

KONAMI said Malaysia’s passionate football community played a key role in the partnership, noting that the inclusion of local clubs would allow Malaysian football to be showcased on a global virtual stage.

“This partnership with KONAMI allows Malaysian football to connect with fans in an entirely new way.

“For the first time, supporters can represent their favourite Malaysia League clubs in eFootball™, bringing the excitement and rivalry of our league into the digital world said MFL president Ab Ghani Hassan in the same statement.

To mark the league’s arrival in the game, users who log in during the campaign period will receive in-game rewards, including a Selection Contract redeemable for special Highlight cards featuring Malaysia League players.

The feature provides players with an opportunity to build squads using standout local talent.

In addition, a dedicated Malaysia server has already been introduced to improve gameplay responsiveness and match stability for local users.

The server is expected to enhance online connectivity, offering smoother matches and a more competitive environment for the growing Malaysian eFootball community.

The rollout also aligns with KONAMI’s continued esports expansion, with the eFootball Championship 2026 Malaysia Cup currently underway.

The competition will culminate in the finals scheduled for April 18–19 at LaLaport BBCC, where top players from both mobile and console divisions will compete live for a place in the regional finals.

The initiative is seen as a significant step in strengthening Malaysia’s presence within the global esports and digital football landscape while spotlighting local talent on an international platform.

Among those present at the ceremony were Ab Ghani, Konami Digital Entertainment senior business marketing manager Hajime Matsumaru and players from several M-League clubs.
