KUCHING: The call for Malaysians to embrace an active and healthy lifestyle rang loud at the Hari Sukan Negara (National Sports Day) 2025 celebration held at the Teachers Education Institute (IPG), Batu Lintang Campus, today.

Batu Lintang State Assemblyman, See Chee How, urged all Malaysians, especially those in Kuching, to continue adopting a healthy and active lifestyle through participation in various sports activities.

“Let us together make sports a part of our daily routine, as this not only improves personal fitness but also strengthens productivity, well-being, and the spirit of national unity.

“I firmly believe that the saying ‘prevention is better than cure’ is a principle we should all embrace, and one of the best ways to achieve this is by cultivating an active and healthy lifestyle,” he said in his address.

Under the ‘Malaysia Aktif’ theme, he said a variety of sports and recreational activities have been organised to provide opportunities for people from all walks of life to participate.

Additionally, he said the National Sports Day is one of the country’s iconic programmes, eagerly anticipated by the public as a platform to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and a healthy lifestyle.

“It also represents the nation’s commitment to advancing the Malaysia MADANI agenda, which emphasises well-being, unity and compassion in every programme implemented.

“At the same time, this celebration aligns with the aspirations of the National Sports Vision 2030, which aims to make sports a core driver of community development, a catalyst for national unity, and a contributor to the country’s economy,” he added.

The one-day event saw participation from over 2,000 locals.
