KUCHING: National women’s doubles pair, Ainaa Amani and Xin Ying Yee, has advanced to the finals of the Asian Doubles Championships at the Sarawak Squash Centre today.

The Malaysian duo overcame Hong Kong’s Tze Lok Ho and Ching Hei Fung in straight sets, winning 11-2, 11-5 (2-0) in the semi-finals.

They will face India’s Joshana Chinappa and Anahat Singh in the women’s doubles final tomorrow (Thursday, June 26).

In the mixed doubles semi-finals, Malaysia’s Rachel Arnold and Ameeshenraj Chandaran booked their spot in the final after defeating India’s Joshana Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar 8-11, 11-7, 11-9 (2-1).

However, fellow Malaysians, Aina Amani and Syafiq Kamal, fell short in the second semi-final, losing to India’s Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh 11-8, 10-11, 11-5 (2-1).

Rachel and Ameeshenraj will now take on Anahat and Abhay in the mixed doubles final tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles semi-finals, the Malaysian pair of Syafiq Kamal and Duncan Lee were edged out by Pakistan’s Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal, going down 10-11, 9-11, 11-9 (2-1) in a closely contested match.
