Man allegedly killed in hit-and-run accident

PADAWAN: An elderly man was allegedly killed in a hit-and-run accident at Jalan Haji Baki yesterday morning.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the police received information about a body on a roadside around 8am.

The victim identifed as Chang Nyan Ted, 61, is believed to be a victim of a hit-and-run accident.

“He sustained severe injuries to his head and left leg and was pronounced dead on the scene by Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) medical personnel,” Naga said in a statement.

The body was later taken to SGH morgue and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Naga added that whoever witnessed the accident is encouraged to come forward to provide information to the investigating officer.
