SIBU: A 30-year-old local man was arrested on Friday after police found methamphetamine during a raid behind a longhouse along Jalan Sibu-Bintulu, Selangau.
Mukah Police Chief, DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, said the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) carried out the operation at about 10:30 am and detained the suspect on suspicion of being involved in drug abuse activities.
“A search led to the discovery of a transparent straw tube containing crystal-like substances believed to be methamphetamine, or syabu, in the suspect’s possession.
“The drugs weighed an estimated 0.43 grammes with a value of about RM110,” he said.
Rizal said a urine test also showed the suspect was positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
The suspect, who works as a labourer, has been remanded for four days until December 17 to assist investigations.
Mukah police urged the public to channel any information on drug-related activities to the IPD Mukah hotline at 084-871222 or the nearest police station.
