SIBU: Police have arrested a local man in connection with the death of a 35-year-old man, believed to have been shot while hunting last Tuesday (Apr 22).
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said they received a report regarding the incident at 4.34 am.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was hunting with a friend in an oil palm plantation at Pasai Siong Tengah.
“When found, the victim had injuries believed to have been caused by gunshots and was confirmed dead at the scene,” he said in a statement.
Following that, a 38-year-old man was taken into custody and is currently under remand for six days until Apr 27.
Zulkipli said that police are still investigating the cause of the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the mandatory death penalty, upon conviction.
