KUCHING: A 44-year-old man was arrested yesterday after a 33-second video of a public altercation involving him and a 57-year-old man went viral on social media.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the incident occurred by the roadside along Jalan Patingan.
“Initial questioning revealed the suspect admitted to being involved. Further checks found he has one prior criminal record,” he said in a statement today.
He added that a preliminary urine test on the suspect returned negative for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
Section 323 carries a penalty of up to one year’s imprisonment or a fine of up to RM2,000, while Section 506 provides for a maximum jail term of seven years, a fine, or both.
