BAU: Narcotics police arrested a local man for allegedly possessing various drugs worth RM600 in an operation codenamed ‘Op Tapis’ yesterday (Jun 23).

Bau police chief DSP Dr Daram Ruer said the 27-year-old suspect was stopped for inspection at around 10 am by the roadside in Kampung Sibuluh.

“Further checks led to the discovery of three plastic packets containing crystalline substances believed to be syabu, along with Erimin 5 pills in the suspect’s possession.

“The seized syabu weighed 5.64g, while the Erimin 5 pills weighed 0.54g. The combined street value of the drugs is estimated at RM600,” he said in a statement.

Dr Daram said the suspect is being investigated under Section 39A (1) and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for imprisonment, caning or a fine, upon conviction.

“A urine test also returned positive for drug use, and the suspect is further investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act, which carries a fine or imprisonment, if convicted,” he said.

He assured that Bau NCID will continue to conduct operations in areas suspected of being involved in drug-related activities.
