BAU: Police detained a local man at a cafe who was allegedly involved in illegal gambling activities.
Bau district police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said the man was arrested during an operation codenamed Op Dadu at a local café at Jalan Jambusan at around 2pm on Tuesday (Mar 3).
He said police were on patrol duty in the area when they spotted a man at the outlet allegedly conducting online gambling activities using his phone.
“After making contact and inspecting the suspect’s phone, they found an online gambling application installed on the device.
“They arrested the 27-year-old suspect and seized his phone along with RM56 in cash,” he said.
He added that since the suspect has prior records, his urine was taken for drug screening.
The case is being investigated under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
