MIRI: A man suspected of abusing drugs was arrested by police at a car park at Taman Tunku Commercial Centre here on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old was detained by a police team from Miri District Narcotics Criminal Investigation (NCID) at around 8.45pm.
“During a body search, the police found a plastic packet filled with crystalline substance, believed to be syabu, weighing about 0.45 grammes, from the suspect’s trousers pocket.
“A search was also carried out on the suspect’s car, but the police did not any illegal items in the vehicle,” sources said.
He said the suspect was later taken to NCID office for further investigation.
“Early investigation revealed that the suspect has a previous criminal record relating to drugs. He was also tested positive for drugs,” sources said, adding that the police were investigating the case under Section 12 and 15 of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952.
