KABONG: A 42-year-old man was arrested in Sungai Benang here on Wednesday (Nov 13) for possessing syabu.
The suspect was detained by a special task force from the Criminal Investigation Division (BJSD) of the Saratok District Police Headquarters during an ‘Ops Tapis’ operation conducted between 10 am and 5 pm.
Saratok District police chief DSP Mathew Maggie said acting on information, the team inspected the man, who was suspected of being a drug dealer and found a transparent plastic packet containing crystal-like substances believed to be syabu in his waist pouch.
“The drugs weighed about 0.46 grams,” he said in a statement yesterday (Nov 14).
The man was arrested and taken to the Saratok Police Station for a urine test, where he later tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
He also has five previous records, including offences under the Penal Code, Poison Act 1952, and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Meanwhile, the case is being investigated under Section 12(3) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
