MIRI: Police have arrested a 35-year-old local man in connection with the theft of scaffolding from an unoccupied house under construction in Tudan.
The case, investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft, relates to an incident reported on Jan 25.
A total of nine sets of scaffolding, estimated to be worth RM1,200, were reported stolen from the construction site.
Police said the stolen items were later recovered during a search at the suspect’s house following the arrest. Investigations are ongoing.
Miri district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah advised members of the public to step up security measures, particularly at houses that are still under construction or left vacant.
He urged property owners and contractors to store construction equipment in locked areas, avoid leaving valuable items in the open and promptly report any suspicious activity to the police to help prevent crime.
