MIRI: Police arrested a local man suspected of being involved in a theft at an electrical goods storage facility here.
The suspect was detained at around 1.20 pm on Saturday during a raid at a house along Jalan Piasau Utara 1C.
The operation was led by the officer-in-charge of the Miri police station, ASP Goldy Jangan, and personnel from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Miri central police station.
During the arrest, police also seized a vehicle and several items believed to have been used in the crime. The seized items have been classified as exhibits to assist ongoing investigations.
The suspect is currently being held at the Miri central police station lock-up and is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
In a statement, police warned members of the public against engaging in theft or other criminal activities that could jeopardise public safety and personal wellbeing.
They also urged the community to cooperate by providing information that could help prevent and combat crime in the Miri district.
Police said public vigilance and timely intelligence remain critical in strengthening law enforcement efforts and maintaining security in the area.
