MIRI: A 39-year-old man in Marudi went berserk after his older sister advised him to stop abusing his maid verbally and physically.
The man was allegedly slapping his 66-year-old sister after she told him to stop abusing his maid whom he hired to take care of their aging father.
A quarrel ensued between the two siblings, resulting in the sister sustaining injuries on her face.
According to Baram police chief DSP Gabriel Risut, the incident occurred on Thursday at 11.30am in Kampung Cina and a police report has been lodged.
It was made to understand that the alleged abuse on the maid happened on a regular basis, which prompted the man’s sister to approach him.
The man, who was unhappy with his sister’s intervention, turned aggressive and started slapping her.
His sister has sought treatment at Marudi Hospital for the injuries she sustained during the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
