Man dies after entertainment outlet brawl, six men nabbed

BINTULU: Police have arrested six men today in Miri in connection with the death of a man following a brawl in front of an entertainment centre here.

The incident, that happened at around 12:35 am, has since gone viral on social media after an 18-second video clip of the incident was uploaded.

Bintulu Police Chief, Supt Nixon Joshua Ali, in a statement said the victim, a local man, was found covered in blood at the scene.

He was rushed to the Bintulu Medical Centre for initial treatment before being referred to Bintulu Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by paramedics.

“Following the incident, an investigation was initiated, and the suspects involved were tracked down.

“Acting on information, six men, who consist of both local and foreign, were arrested in Miri.

“They are believed to be involved in this case, and we are still tracing the remaining suspects.

“With their arrest, we have resolved the case within 24 hours,” he said.

The suspects, all in their 40s, will be remanded to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Nixon stated that the police will not compromise with any individual or group committing criminal acts, and urged the public not to speculate on the incident.
