BAU: A local man died on the spot after his motorcycle skidded out of control and crashed into a lamp post at Kilometre 17, Kampung Tanjung Bowang, along Jalan Singai-Sagah on Monday.
Bau Police Chief, Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman, said the accident occurred at around 4:48 pm and involved a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle.
“Preliminary investigations found that the victim was riding towards Kampung Singai from Musi when he lost control of his motorcycle at a corner and veered off to the left before crashing into a lamp post.
“The impact caused him to be thrown off along with his motorcycle onto the grassy roadside,” he said.
The victim, whose identitiy was not disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and his body was taken to Bau Hospital for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous riding.
Haide urged witnesses, or anyone with information about the accident, to come forward to assist with investigations, or contact the nearest police station.
He also reminded the public not to speculate on the accident and to always exercise caution while driving, especially during unpredictable weather conditions.
