KUCHING: A 26-year-old cook was killed when the motorcycle he was riding on was hit by a car from behind at Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakop.

The victim has been identified as Mohammad Othman Abdullah from Taman Palma Indah, Mile 8 1/2, Jalan Matang and the car that hit him was a red Perodua Bezza, driven by a 28-year-old.

According to state Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the driver who was coming from Satok and heading towards the Abang Kipali roundabout, was changing lanes from right to middle when he hit the victim in the 2.55am accident yesterday.

“As a result of the accident, the driver injured his right arm and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH),” he said.

The accident is still being investigated.
