SIBURAN: A 31-year-old man drowned while bathing at a riverbank near a water treatment plant at Kampung Sungai Langsat in Siburan here today (May 13).
The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said the victim, identified as Bonnie Kota, was reported to have slipped and fallen into the river while he was bathing.
It said personnel from the Siburan Fire and Rescue Station were immediately deployed to the scene after receiving a report on the incident around 9.45am.
“The Bomba dive team conducted a dive and search around a radius of 15 metres from where the victim was suspected to have fallen. It managed to find his body at 12.30pm,” it said in a statement today.
The operations centre said the victim’s body was found seven metres away from his last known location.
“The body was handed over to the police for further actions,” it added.
