MIRI: A man escaped injury in an early morning crash after his four-wheel drive vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle accident near Wisma Pelita Tunku along Jalan Padang here.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said they received a distress call at 2.50am and dispatched a team from the Miri Sentral station to the scene, located about 2km away.

“The team arrived within minutes and found that the man had already been pulled out of the vehicle by members of the public.

“Fortunately, he was reported to be in a safe condition, and no rescue operation was required,” it said in a statement.

Firefighters then carried out a clean-up of an oil spill caused by the crash before bringing the operation under control at 3.15 am.
