BAU: A 45-year-old man suffered minor injuries after his car caught fire following a self-accident at Kampung Bogag, Jalan Bau-Serikin early today (July 27).

The compact sedan was found almost completely destroyed when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said a distress call was received at 2.58am and personnel from the Bau station were immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, firefighters found a car on fire, believed to be caused by a self-accident.

“Fortunately, the man, aged 45, managed to escape from the vehicle with only minor injuries,” it said in a statement today.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 3.30 am and ensured the area was safe and had no remaining sources of ignition.
