LUNDU: A local man has been reported missing in a forest near Kampung Jangkar after leaving his home last week.

The victim, identified as Joshpen Stephen, 37, was last seen leaving his home on September 20 at around 11:50 pm and has not returned since.

Family members and friends had initially tried tracing him in the area behind the house but failed to locate him.

Last Tuesday, villagers claimed to have seen him in a distressed state near a forested area at the junction of Kampung Jangkar.

Fearing for his safety, a police report was lodged today before the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) was alerted.

Firefighters from Lundu station together with the police and Civil Defence Force (APM) were deployed to the scene to launch the search and rescue (SAR) operation.

Search efforts were carried out within a one-kilometre radius from the back of the villagers’ houses.

At the time of writing, no clues or traces have been found.
