KUCHING: A local man was fined RM500, in default one month in prison, for stealing canned food and sauces from a supermarket last week.

Phil Stephen, 46, from Batu Kawa, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali to a charge of theft framed under Section 380 of the Penal Code.

He committed the offence at a supermarket in a shopping mall at Jalan Simpang Tiga at 1.38pm on Sept 4.

According to the case facts, a security guard noticed the man acting suspiciously as he exited the premises.
