KUCHING: A local man, Voon, 34, was fined RM3,400 in default of eight months’ jail by the Magistrates’ Court here today (Dec 13) for drug possession.
Voon pleaded guilty to possessing 0.38 grams of methamphetamine at a shop on Jalan Kuching-Serian on April 23.
According to the prosecution, police detained Voon at a grocery store on the same road and seized a transparent plastic packet containing the drugs.
A subsequent chemical analysis confirmed the substance to be methamphetamine.
He appeared in court unrepresented.
