KUCHING: The General Operations Force (GOF) has seized over RM34,000 worth of suspected ecstasy and a car during a crime prevention patrol last month.

The seizure was made by a team from the GOF 11th Battalion’s Technical Platoon at around 7.30 pm on Jul 21.

Sarawak GOF Brigade commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said the team came across a suspicious Perodua Myvi parked by the roadside near Kuching International Airport (KIA) while patrolling the area.

“As officers approached the vehicle, a man fled the scene, abandoning the car.

“Further checks on the vehicle led to the discovery of 174.37g of suspected Ecstasy powder and two Ecstasy pills,” he said.

The drugs and the Myvi were seized with an estimated value at RM34,466.50, based on market price.

All seized items have been handed over to Kuching district police headquarters (IPD) for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
