BAU: A local man was found dead inside his home in Kampung Tabong, Singai, four days after he was last seen alive.
The victim, identified as 50-year-old Jerome Ringid, was discovered by his younger brother yesterday (July 20) after relatives became concerned when they were unable to contact him.
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said the 44-year-old brother decided to check on Jerome after receiving a message in the family’s WhatsApp group that a motorcycle believed to belong to the victim was parked outside the house and the porch light had been left on.
“Upon arrival, he repeatedly called out to his brother and knocked on the door, but there was no response. He then sought the help of neighbours to open the locked house.
“After gaining entry, he found the victim lying face-up on a mattress in a bedroom.
“Paramedics from Bau Hospital pronounced the man dead at 3.34 pm,” he said.
Mohd Haide stated that the victim was last seen by his brother on July 16 at around 9 pm in Kampung Apar, Bau.
The victim had a history of high blood pressure and diabetes.
“Initial examination of the body found no suspicious injuries or evidence of foul play,” he said.
The case has been classified as sudden death, and the body was sent to Bau Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
