SIBU: The body of a man was found in a drain by members of the public at Jalan Kemuyang Timur 5E1 here yesterday.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the victim, identified as Ajut Osit, 62, was involved in a motorcycle accident at 9.40am.
“The accident occurred when the victim, who was heading to Jalan Utama Kemunting, lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a drain.
“His death was confirmed by medical personnel who were present at the scene,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Sungai Merah fire and rescue station (BBP) received an alert on the discovery and despatched its personnel to the location.
The body of the victim was retrieved from the ditch by the firemen and handed over to the police to be taken to Sibu Hospital for post mortem.
