Man found with drugs in hotel room

BINTULU: A local man has been detained by police to assist them in their investigations into drug related offences.

The suspect, 34, was detained by Bintulu Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) during a raid on Friday at a hotel room at Jalan Masjid here at around 11am.

During the raid, police seized illegal substances concealed inside three plastic packets believed to be syabu weighing at 9.0g and worth around RM1,500, Sarawak NCID head Supt Hasnir Abdul Hamid revealed.

“The suspect is being investigated under Section 39A (1) and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said yesterday.

The illegal substances were discovered under a mattress.

The police also found two syringes and a pair of scissors. The suspect tested positive for syabu.
