Man gets six months for having stolen handphone

SIBU: A 45-year-old man was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment here Tuesday (Sept 2) for having stolen property.
Magistrate Romario Jonoi handed Lee Hock King the penalty after he pleaded guilty.

He stood accused of having in his possession a stolen Vivo Y16 mobile phone belonging to one Friadah Abdullah at a house along Jalan Berjaya, on June 2 around 12.05 am.

The offence was framed under Section 411 of the Penal Code which upon conviction, carries an imprisonment which may extend to five years or fine or both.

According to the facts of the case, Friadah was at a laundry outlet at about 2pm on Dec 23, 2024 when she was approached by three unknown men.

One of them grabbed her hand while another placed a machete against her neck.

They then snatched her sling bag from her before fleeing the scene in a car.

On June 2 at about 12.05 pm, acting on information received, a police party arrested Lee at a house in Jalan Berjaya after he was found having the stolen phone.
