SIBU: The Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF) arrested a 47-year-old man yesterday (Feb 27) for allegedly storing 14,450 litres of subsidised diesel illegally.
Sarawak GOF Brigade Commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said the operation, conducted at 2.45 pm, also led to the seizure of a lorry, with the total confiscated items valued at RM698,720.
“The suspect and the seized items have been handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sibu Branch for further action and investigation,” he said in a statement today.
The case is being investigated under Section 20(1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
Meanwhile, commenting on the broader operations by the GOF, Che Ghazali revealed that during Op Taring carried out by the Sarawak GOF from Jan 1 to Feb 27, recorded a total seizures worth RM156 million.
“A total of 71 cases were recorded, leading to the arrest of 143 individuals, including 107 locals and 36 foreigners, as well as the confiscation of 84 vehicles of various types,” he added.
