KUCHING: A 64-year-old local man was arrested for allegedly possessing and using a copy of another person’s identity card at the Sarawak General Hospital here on Wednesday (Apr 1).
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the suspect was detained at about 3.30pm.
He said checks found that the identity card details belonged to a deceased individual.
“Initial investigations revealed that the suspect did not possess any identification documents since birth.
“He was believed to have been using the copied identity card for about 10 years,” he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Regulation 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990.
