SONG: A man was arrested during ‘Ops Dadu’ operations in Song on Wednesday (Feb 11) for allegedly selling illegal public lottery tickets.

Song Police Chief, DSP Benedict Faris Jimoy, said the operations was carried out at the five-foot way of a shoplot along Jalan Penghulu Jugah.

He said a team from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) detained the suspect for suspected involvement in unlicensed lottery activities.

“Among the items seized were a blue Vivo Y15S smartphone, a printed slip containing numbers believed to be illegal lottery entries, and cash,” he said.

The suspect was brought to the Song Police Station for investigation under Section 4A(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

Benedict said police remained committed to curbing gambling activities in the district to safeguard public harmony and safety.

He also urged members of the public to channel information to the police if they suspected similar activities in their areas.
